When I started mentoring a 14-year-old girl, she did not have a job. Which meant that she did not have any money. It was hard for her to answer questions about how she manages her money when we met virtually. It was also difficult for her to create a budget, because she had no income to base it on.
After a few weeks, she started earning money washing her neighbors dog every couple of weeks. Even though she does not make very much money and does not have a consistent income, making some money has allowed this teen to start learning how to manage her money wisely and become a wise steward.
